Settings & Preferences

Configure ClipDish to work the way you want. Manage your account, subscriptions, and app preferences.
ClipDish's Settings screen is where you manage your account, configure app behavior, and access help resources. Let's walk through what's available.
Accessing Settings
- Open the sidebar
- Tap Settings in the Navigation section
The Settings screen opens with several sections.

General Settings
Prevent Screen Lock
When enabled, your screen stays awake while you're in ClipDish. This is useful when cooking—you can glance at the recipe without having to unlock your device every time.
Toggle: Prevent Screen Lock
Why use this?
- Keeps the screen on while you're following a recipe
- No need to wash your hands mid-cooking to unlock your phone
- Automatically disabled when you close ClipDish (doesn't affect other apps)
Note: This setting only affects ClipDish. When you leave the app, your device returns to its normal screen lock behavior.
See Working with Recipes to learn more about cooking from recipes in ClipDish.
Clear Spotlight Cache
If you're having trouble finding recipes in iOS Spotlight search, clearing the cache can help. This rebuilds ClipDish's index in Spotlight.
Button: Clear Spotlight Cache
When to use this:
- Recipes aren't showing up in Spotlight search
- Spotlight results are outdated after editing or deleting recipes
After tapping this button, it may take a few minutes for Spotlight to rebuild the index.
Purchases
Restore Previous Purchases
If you purchased a ClipDish subscription on another device or reinstalled the app, use this to restore your subscription.
Button: Restore Previous Purchases
How it works:
- Tap the button
- A confirmation dialog explains the restore process
- Tap Restore
- You may be prompted to sign in to the App Store
- ClipDish checks for your purchase with Apple
- If found, your subscription is restored
Possible outcomes:
- Purchases Restored: Your subscription is active again
- Purchases Not Found: No subscription record found for this Apple ID
- Purchase Expired: Subscription was found but has expired
- Error: Network issue or Apple servers unavailable
Note: Your App Store credentials are requested by iOS, not ClipDish. We never see or store your Apple ID or password.
Manage Subscription
Opens Apple's subscription management screen where you can:
- Cancel your subscription
- Change subscription plans (if available)
- Update billing information
- View renewal dates
Button: Manage Subscription
This opens the App Store, not ClipDish settings. All subscription changes are handled by Apple.
Reminders Integration
ClipDish can add recipe ingredients to your Apple Reminders app as a grocery list. You can customize the name of the list where ingredients are added.
Text Field: Grocery list name (default: "Shopping")
How to use:
- Enter the name of the Reminders list you want to use
- Tap Done or press Return
- When you add ingredients from a recipe to your grocery list, they'll appear in this Reminders list
Example: Change "Shopping" to "Groceries" if you prefer.
Learn more: Tap the question mark icon next to "Reminders Integration" to read about this feature on the ClipDish blog.
