What is ClipDish?

ClipDish is a recipe management app for iPhone and iPad that helps you:

  • Save recipes from the web without the life story
  • Browse thousands of community recipes in Discover
  • Organize recipes into collections for easy meal planning
  • Cook with confidence using checkboxes, progress tracking, and AI assistance
  • Get instant help from Chef Beverly, your AI cooking assistant

We built ClipDish to solve a simple problem: finding and cooking from online recipes shouldn't be this hard.

Our Mission

Make cooking from recipes actually enjoyable.

No more:

  • Scrolling through someone's blog post about their childhood to find the recipe
  • Losing recipes you bookmarked months ago
  • Switching between apps to convert measurements or find substitutions
  • Getting your phone dirty while cooking because you need to scroll

ClipDish strips away the noise and gives you just what you need: the recipe, your notes, and help when you need it.

Who Built ClipDish?

ClipDish is built by AppJawn, a two-person indie development team:

Matt - Co-founder, lead developer Joe - Co-founder, developer

We're not a big corporation with unlimited resources. We're two people who care deeply about building great software that solves real problems.

We don't sell your data. We don't track you across the web. We don't show ads. Your recipes are yours—not ours, not advertisers', not anyone else's.

Quality Over Quantity

We'd rather ship one great feature than ten half-baked ones. Every feature in ClipDish has been thoughtfully designed and tested.

If something doesn't meet our standards, we don't ship it. Period.

Independent and Sustainable

We're an indie team, which means we're not beholden to investors or shareholders. We answer to you—our users.

That also means we need to be sustainable. ClipDish is funded by subscriptions, which allow us to keep building, improving, and supporting the app without compromising your privacy or experience.

Community-Driven

ClipDish's best features often come from user suggestions. If you have an idea, we want to hear it. Send us feedback anytime.

Why We Built ClipDish

Matt: "I was tired of bookmarking recipes in Safari and never being able to find them again. I wanted something that worked like Pinterest but for cooking."

Joe: "I cook a lot, and I was frustrated by how cluttered recipe websites had become. I just wanted the ingredients and instructions—nothing else."

We built ClipDish for ourselves first. If we wouldn't use it, we don't expect you to.

The Technology Behind ClipDish

ClipDish is built with:

  • SwiftUI for a native iOS experience
  • Firebase for backend services
  • AI/ML for recipe parsing, cleanup, and Chef Beverly
  • Algolia for Discover search
  • iCloud sync for seamless multi-device access

We use modern iOS features like Spotlight integration, Widgets, and Shortcuts to make ClipDish feel like it's part of your device, not just another app.

What's Next for ClipDish?

We're constantly improving ClipDish. Upcoming features we're working on:

  • Cook Mode - Hands-free cooking with voice control and automatic timers
  • Recipe Sharing - Share recipes with friends or contribute to Discover
